The return match versus Real Madrid.  Having drawn 0 - 0 away, United needed to win.  However on a night when we needed certain players to be on their best form, they weren't.  Roy Keane gave away an early own goal and from then on we were chasing the game.  We had to push forward which inevitably left spaces at the back, and early in the second half gave away two soft goals in quick succession.  Even at three nil down the optimists at Old Trafford thought 'you never know!'  It wasn't to be.  We did manage to get two back, one by a great move and a fantastic finish from David Beckham and a Scholes penalty.  Sadly the end of our European campaign.

Chelsea also out of Europe after getting hammered by Barcelona 5 - 2.  This result was in my opinion inevitable, Chelsea are still some way off getting a side together capable of beating the likes of Barcelona.

Leeds too failed to overcome the 2 - 0 deficit inflicted in the first leg at that dodgy Turkish stadium.  The result 2 - 2.  I suspect Leeds were glad to get it out of the way given the circumstances.

Arsenal alas managed to get themselves into the UEFA Cup Final after beating Lens home and away.  Worthy winners I think but the oposition aren't the best in the world by any stretch.

So onto the Premier League.  We were away to Southampton, a win here and United secure their sixth Premiership title in eight years.  Another United victory 3 - 1.  First Beckham, then an o.g. by Benali and good old Solskjaer to make it three.  Southampton got a consolation goal from Pahars, the United fans were already partying!!!  What do you think?  I was sat listening to the game and when the final whistle blew it was almost complacency!  Are us United fans getting too arrogant?  What the hell !  CHAMPIONS, CHAMPIONS!

The scousers could only manage a 0 - 0 draw with Everton on Good Friday (which enabled us to win the Premiership on the Saturday) and Arsenal won 3 - 2 against Watford.

Thank you and good night.
